In accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), MaxxVault delivers the power to securely control access to all information stored within its system. Security rights are defined specifically for groups, users, folders and documents. Using an object-based security model with special features for documents, the MaxxVault system allows for the assignment of security rights and access to information to all users on a need-to-know basis.

MaxxVault offers comprehensive audit trails of user activity, version controls and  allows you to require a user to provide a reason for viewing protected health information (PHI) prior to accessing the PHI with the check-out/check-in feature. The system provides a complete accounting for disclosures of PHI.
